Social Responsibility

We believe ethical conduct in all business matters is the cornerstone of success. We are committed to operate our businesses based on trust, honesty, dignity, mutual respect, and collaboration, especially as it relates to the treatment of our people, environment, and communities. Robert Humphreys, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, states, “All of us have a shared responsibility to act with integrity and to ensure that we sustain a place in which we are proud to work. We have adopted an Ethics Policy and Workplace Code of Conduct to promote these standards.”

We employ approximately 7,000 full time employees, of whom approximately 1,200 are employed in the United States. The remaining employees are located in Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico. All Delta Apparel, Inc. associates are required to acknowledge that they understand our Ethics Policy and Workplace Code of Conduct. In addition to our internal associates, we also require all of our business partners, suppliers and contractors, to conduct their operations in a legal and ethical manner.

We have invested significant time and resources in ensuring that the working conditions in all of our facilities meet or exceed the standards imposed by the governing laws. We have obtained WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) certification for all of our manufacturing facilities that we operate in the United States, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico. Soffe is an affiliate of FLA (Fair Labor Association) as college licensees and we are a provisional participating company with FLA. This level of affiliation with FLA will further enhance human rights compliance monitoring for Delta Apparel plants and our third party contractors. In addition, we have proactive programs to promote workplace safety, personal health, and employee wellness.

We also support local charities and educational institutions in the communities where we operate, as well as certain U.S. national campaigns and international victim relief funds. Some of the things that we have supported include the March Forth with Hope Foundation, the Fayetteville Care Clinic (health care of the underprivileged), the American Diabetes Association, the USO “Give2theTroops”, the Japan Relief Fund, the Haiti Earthquake Victim, the Tide® Loads of Hope.

Conflict Minerals

In 2010, Congress enacted the "conflict minerals" provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to address the exploitation and trade of certain minerals that contribute to violence and human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and neighboring countries.  These conflict minerals consist of gold, columbite-tantalite (coltan), cassiterite, and wolframite (including their derivatives, tantulum, tin and tungsten), and may include other designated minerals in the future. As set forth in our Conflict Minerals Policy, we support the Dodd-Frank Act's goals of preventing armed groups in the applicable countries from benefitting from the sourcing of conflict minerals from that region and we are committed to responsible sourcing of materials for our products. We also support greater transparency in the supply chain, particularly with respect to the sourcing of conflict minerals.
